Friends have been recommending the movie 'Before Sunrise' for ages now. I just don't appreciate deep romantic movies too much. Don't get me wrong! I love romantic comedies. I just don't like the deep love stories. I see enough of those in real life, I guess.. :) God bless the world!
But, anyway, one bored night when I needed to take a break and watch something.. ANYTHING.. I decided to watch this one. Annnddd, I LOVED it! Its such a beautiful movie. So casual, so fascinating, captures the magic of a special evening. The chemistry between the Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy just doesn't seem like just acting (Not trying to start a scandal here, just a mindless observation.. hehe)! But, thats not the point. I liked the point the movie and its sequel are trying to make. When you are young, you never realize how hard it is to find people you connect with instantaneously. Its only when you grow up that you realize how priceless that was.. Its not that I don't meet such people anymore, its just that people seem suspicious of such connections, almost scared to believe its possible. I wonder why..
Sometimes, its hard to believe there exist people in the world who are still happy doing simple things, who don't need to do anything fancy to be with you, who reminisce about little things like sitting on a bench and laughing about silly stories, who don't really care how much money they make, to whom a coffee with an old friend can be as exciting as a dinner cruise.. But then again, maybe when we are kids, we recognize those magical bonds more easily, coz it doesn't surprise us. Its very normal to be able to talk and laugh for hours together the first time you meet someone.
To old friends, and for some strange reason, an old bench! :)
From stardust to pencils, from rainbows to the perfect black dress, from splashing in a puddle to a stranger's smile, from an old pair of jeans, to coffee with an old friend... Its all around! Its not a big thing, its a million little things... :)

Smoky view
My friend and her boyfriend are playing this game where they each think of one thing everyday that they love about the other. Seemed like a cute, romantic game when it started out. But, they couldn't have foreseen any of the fights they ended up having owing to the little game. :) So, here's the latest one, and yes, I have her permission to write about it now, a week after it happened. Thats apparently how long it took her to get out of her alternating-between-mad-bulldog-face-and-sad-puppy-dog-face.
This is what the bf said to her on the fateful day. 'I love the way you smell, baby!' So far, so good.. 'You have this.. hmm.. i don't know.. musky scent..' Ok, no damage done yet. 'Kinda like a cigarette.. :)' Yes, he said it with a proud smile, like he had just figured out the perfect thing to say. Needless to say, hell broke loose. She stormed out of the restaurant they were in. Speaking of which, one of the things on my to-do list is to storm out of somewhere. It always looks like fun! :D So, she stormed out of the restaurant, wouldn't take his calls and caught a cab home. Now, in his defence (again, its been a week so I am allowed to speak of him in non-destructive terms) he was a chain smoker who decided to quit a few weeks back. It might have actually been a compliment that he compared her to a cigarette. Its all in the point of view!
